Found a great cookbook For families with restricted diets
Made the banana muffins on the weekend (using Gluten free all purpose flour+ Xanthan Gum instead), I added a tsp of vanilla too. They (for real) are the best muffins my family has ever had! The kids had tantrums because I stopped them from eating the whole batch before lunch time! Thank you Divvies!!
I can't wait to try more. I'm going to buy some of their candy for Easter too! Such a great find.

Gluten Free/ Dairy Free for a month now!
So, after learning about my Son's allergies we decided to make the whole family eat the new restricted diet. We want him to feel normal and not like the only one not getting the "good" food.
After a month on our new diet we are all feeling much better!! I had no idea how it would affect my family- it has been amazing. the first two weeks were SO HARD, after the initial withdrawal symptoms we were OK.
Our family is now eating fish, vegetables, amazing new grains in homemade bread, goat cheese instead of cow's milk cheese no soy, no peanuts or cashews and no eggs. Of course we still eat meat. I have learned so much and am still on the steep part of the learning curve but am feeling like we have a handle on it.
I am going to try to find us ways to eat out at restaurants and I've decided to review local places to help people in my area.
Stay tuned for that.
A great store to shop at for allergen free foods with many options is Fruitful Yield- Joliet location - They have a number of stores in the area and an online store as well.
Check them out and I'll be back with more soon.

Babies with colic and/or GERD
Our Experience with Reflux and Colic
Both of my children were unlucky enough to have reflux and colic. My son had reflux worse than his colic and my daughter had the reverse. I went through a lot with these two babies and I don't think everything that I've learned about dealing with these two issues should stop at me. So I've decided to make a page full of info, things we have tried and what ended up helping each one. Hopefully someday doctors will have these issues figured out so that no other family has to live through the heartache and to feel the helplessness that we felt.
I created a page dedicated to these issues. check out the page if you need help with infant GERD, Colic or sleep. It is sure to help.

Sick kids and a blizzard
Oh man, 2 sick kids, one sick husband and a possible history setting blizzard en route. Gosh I hope I'm ready. Must take the kids to the Doctor this morning Little Miss is starting to sound really bad. Just used the nebulizer on them about an hour ago and she sounds just as bad. He seems a bit better.
Never wish these days on anyone. We have lots of food, drinks, and movies ready to watch. All we need is for the power to stay on and for The Hubs to come home early and safely from work today!
All the best to you during the madness of winter!
At least I should have time to work on the posts and pages I've been planning for the blog.
I'll update conditions as I know them.
